FALL Wedding Guest Two-Piece DIY Outfit!

Hello everyone and thank you for stopping by the blog! For today’s post, I am sharing the last look for the Falling for Sewing Series of season two, which is look #5!
~~~You can watch the full dedicated review on YouTube by clicking here.~~~
So for today’s look, I made McCall’s 8069, formally McCall’s 7755, for my jumpsuit. And I used Vogue 2079 to make Bolero Sleeves for the jumpsuit.
I was invited to my friend’s daughter’s wedding. This wedding was fall themed and all the guests had to wear brown. I was going to purchase a ready-to-wear outfit, but I couldn’t find anything in my style or size, so I went to JoAnn’s, and purchased fabric.
I chose this jumpsuit because I love it, I’ve sewn it multiple times so I knew it would fit, with the right accessories, I felt like it would definitely give wedding guest vibes.  As far as my bolero sleeves, I chose this pattern (Vogue 2079) because it’s classy, new, and I needed something to cover me up if I happened to get cold. Below you will find photos, and below the photos, you will find detailed pattern reviews for BOTH garments.
If you would like to see the full dedicated review for both, please click HERE~
*Pattern Review
Pattern Number: Vogue 2079! This pattern just came out and I was super eager to make it!
Pattern Description: Misses’ bolero jackets in three styles. View A bolero has long bishop sleeves and tie neckline. View B bolero has bias binding finish, tie front and below elbow length gathered sleeves. View C bolero is lined, has 7/8 length dolman sleeves pleated into a cuff and hook and eye front closure.
Views: This pattern has three views.
View I Made:  The view that I made was view B. I chose that one because I already had a lot of volume within the legs of my jumpsuit, and I thought this one would be better because it has some volume but not a whole lot.  Even though I made it and like it, I still think that it probably looks better paired with fitted garments.
FABRIC Recommendations:  Charmeuse, Crepe, Satin and Taffeta
Sewing Skill Level: The skill level is noted as easy and it is! There are time consuming details like making bias binding.
Notions Needed: Thread.
Pattern Sizing: The pattern sizing is from size XS-XL; there are no finished measurements on the pattern or pattern pieces, just the sizes.
Size that I Cut:  I made an XL to be safe. It worked.
Pattern Pieces: The front and back are the same pattern piece cut twice.  The neck binding, back binding and sleeve binding.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope? Yes.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes
What did you particularly like about the pattern?  Everything!
What did you particularly dislike about the pattern?  Nothing
Did I have a first time experience: No
Fabric Used:  This fabric is that I used is  a CASA Satin Silky Brown Fabrics.  You can find it here.
Fabric Purchased: JoAnn Fabrics
Buttons Used:
Alterations or changes: Yes, when it came time to attach the binding to the sleeve hem, it wasn’t working out because the gathers made it too bulky for the bias binding pattern piece, so I unpicked it, created a casing, and just added elastic. In my opinion, you can’t tell the difference. I also tucked my front ties inside the jumpsuit so that they were not dangling in front.
Any modification recommendations: I would cut the binding wider than the pattern pieces because I don’t believe it’s wide enough. (See video for a detailed explanation.)
Would you recommend it to others? Yes!
Availability: Just came out and available at JoAnn’s and the simplicity website.
Pattern Number Two
*Pattern Review
Pattern Number: McCall’s 8069. You can find it here.
Pattern Description: Misses’ Loose-fitting romper and jumpsuit have neckline with encased drawstring, front and back neck slits, pockets, and leg variations. A, D: Belt.
Views: This pattern has four views; the jumpsuit with wide legs, the jumpsuit with a round curve hem, the jumpsuit with a round curve hem and ties, and the romper.
View I Made:  The view that I made was view D, The wide leg.
FABRIC Recommendations:  Cotton Knit, Interlock, Guaze, Challis. But I have made it in other fabrics too, so I really don’t think it matters as long as you give yourself ease with the woven fabrics.
Sewing Skill Level: The skill level is noted as easy and it’s actually a learn to sew pattern.
Notions Needed: Thread.
Pattern Sizing: The pattern sizing is from size XS-XL.
Size that I CutI made an XL.
Pattern Pieces: Front, back, pockets and tie.  The tie belt is optional and I did not make it because I have not ever used the other tie belts from this pattern with previous makes.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope? Yes.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes.
What did you particularly like about the pattern?  Everything! This is a TNT pattern for me.
What did you particularly dislike about the pattern?  Nothing
Did I have a first time experience: No
Fabric Used:  This fabric is that I used is  a CASA Satin Silky Brown Fabrics.  You can find it here.
Fabric Purchased: JoAnn Fabrics
Buttons Used: None
Alterations or changes: Yes, the armholes comes to a V, so I changed the shape to a normal rounded shape to eliminate my bra showing.
Any modification recommendations: Do the same if  you don’t like your bra showing.
Would you recommend it to others? Yes!
Availability: This came out in 2018, and it is still available on the website and in the stores. When this pattern originally came out, It was McCall’s 7755.
