Simplicity 9845 Vintage Holiday Dress!

This second dress that I made is a new release vintage reproduction pattern and I also love it soooo much!!
I call this dress my Christmas Tree Holiday Dress, and I made this by using Simplicity 9845 (you can find it here), and this is also a 1960’s pattern and I made view 1!
*****B.Roll******
This 1960s A-line dress has a relaxed fit up top but an A shaped flared skirt below.
I was so SUPER excited about this dress after I tried it on! as well!!
I initially was super nervous about how I would look in this dress because the finished measurements matched perfectly with my bust and waist and I don’t have a small belly and I wasn’t sure if the dress was going to be too tight and show that area. I didn’t size up because I felt that the next size up would be too big.
At the end, it worked amazing!!!!
So I will now show you some photos and then the pattern review will be below! Remember that you can watch the full video on this dress and the other by clicking here!

Let’s talk about the details of this pattern and fabric!

Views: Above
View I Made:  The view that I made is view 1, which has the longest sleeves and length
FABRIC Recommendations: Almost everything you can think of LOL.
Fabric Used:  The fabric that I used is is this beautiful soft and thick brushed cotton!
Fabric Purchased: JoAnn Fabrics, you can find it here!
Sewing Skill Level: The skill level is noted as Very Easy, and it is but you will need to install a zipper.
Notions Needed: 22” all purpose zipper, bias tape and two yards of ribbon for an optional belt.
Pattern Sizing: The pattern sizing is from size 8-26
Size that I Cut: The size that I cut was an 18, which had the perfect body measurements and I feel that it looked great on me.
Pattern Pieces: Front, back and sleeves.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope? Yes, I feel like I achieved the look
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes
What did you particularly like about the pattern?  I like the design of the dress in general, the raglan sleeves and the neckline
What did you particularly dislike about the pattern?  I feel like the neckline doesn’t hold it’s shape and if I had made this in a regular cotton fabric or some other type of fabric, I know it would be flopping and drooping.  The pattern doesn’t call for interfacing but you do need to put some fusible interfacing on the neckline if you want it to stay in place and there are markings for that area for you to transfer on your pattern.
Did I learn any new Techniques: No
Did I have a first time experience: No
Buttons Used: No
Alterations or changes: Yes, the dress was much longer than what I expected it to be, so I took off an additional two inches to get it to my desired length.
Any modification recommendations: No
Would you recommend it to others? Yes! I think this is such a great pattern with a classic look!
Availability: This pattern just came out for the winter collection of 2023, and available on the Simplicity website and in JoAnn Fabrics and Hobby Lobby!
Pairings:. I paired my dress with my gold and green broach, gold heels, my fascinator and gloves. You can find the fascinator set here!
