Photos Below

Hello everyone and thank you for stopping by the Blogl! My name is Talisha and I also go by creativiteeByT, and today I will be sharing the FIRST GARMENT of the SECOND CATEGORY of my mini Fall wardrobe collection titled FALLING FOR SEWING!!
This collection consists of  five DIFFERENT and NEW garments!
Not only will I be sharing five different new garments that I made, but I collaborated with another sewist, Ellie, of Sallie and Sam Style, and she will be sharing five NEW garments as well!
Ellie does not have a blog, so if you would like to see what she made, you can watch it HERE!
If you would like to see all of my garments in one video, you can click HERE to watch it on my YouTube channel!

So let me tell you a little about this collection that we made.  Ellie and I decided to title this series and/or collection, FALLING FOR SEWING, and make a small collection that consists of two categories! Within our categories we have also given all of our makes a theme or a name that reminds us of something related to this season!
The first category is titled “Fall Essentials”, which has three different garment types: The first garment type is an outerwear, which could be a shacket, a blazer, a coat, a cape or a cardigan or anything of that nature.  The second look is the  perfect Fall dress, and the third look is a pair of Fall pants!
The second category, which is what this post is about today, consists of a Day and Night look!

So with that being said, I will go ahead and share the FIRST look of the SECOND CATEGORY, which is the DAY LOOK!

For my DAY look, I made a JACKET!”
In my opinion, a jacket is always perfect for a day look in the fall, especially one like this!  This style of a jacket is one that looks more than casual, but you can still dress it down. I made it with this denim fabric, because in my opinion, denim matches with anything and you are good to go!!

Let’s get into the pattern review, but if you want to hear more, you can watch the video by clicking HERE!

*Pattern Review

Pattern Number: Simplicity 9468
Pattern Description: Misses’ Misses’ Unlined Jacket
Relaxed unlined jacket in two lengths has dropped shoulders, patch pockets, sleeve bands, back slit. Choose from two shawl collar options or collarless views.
Views: This pattern has four views as described above.
View I Made:  The view that I made is view B, which has the collar with indentations and it’s one of the longer views.
FABRIC Recommendations: Linen, Cotton, Chambray, Denim, Rayon, Double Gauze and Poplin
Sewing Skill Level: The skill level is noted as easy and it is but it did take me some time to get it made
Notions Needed: Thread and one 1 ⅛ inch button
Pattern Sizing: The pattern sizing is from size 6-24
Size that I Cut: I made a size 18, which gives a finished bust measurement of 46 inches, and my bust is an even 45 inches. This did fit well and fit the way it intended, which is relaxed.  I personally like more shaped garments, so I will have to get use to this look, but it did turn out the way it should with no issues.
Pattern Pieces: The pattern pieces that I used were the front, the back, the pockets, the sleeves, the facing and back facing and the collar.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope? Yes!
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, no issues at all with instructions at all. Everything was crystal clear.
What did you particularly like about the pattern?  I like that the jacket is unlined, I like how easy it was to put it together, I like the options that the pattern gives.
What did you particularly dislike about the pattern?  For some reason, the slits on my sleeve cuff are showing on the backside and that is not what it looks like on the pattern cover.  I noticed that after everything was stitched down and topstitched, so I didn’t want to unpick it.  I don’t believe that I made a mistake because my notches were all lined up, so I am thinking this is a mistake within the pattern…. I just wish I would have noticed beforehand and I would have figured out the placement for myself.
Did I learn any new Techniques: No
Did I have a first time experience: Yes, first time making a cardigan style of jacket.
Fabric Used:  Denim
Fabric Purchased: JoAnn Fabrics
Buttons Used: 1 ⅛ inch from Hobby Lobby

Alterations or changes: Yes, I added bias binding to the inside seams to make the finish look more professional. Unfortunately, I didn’t get any still photos of the inside of the garment, but I did get a video clip of it and you can see what it looks like by watching the video by clicking HERE!
Any modification recommendations: No
Would you recommend it to others? Yes! I think this is such a great pattern, but make sure that you are ok with the relaxed/boxy style that this gives.
Availability: This pattern came out in 2022 and this pattern is still available in stores (JoAnn’s and Hobby Lobby) and it is also available on the Simplicity website.  You can find it by clicking HERE!
Pairings:. I paired my jacket with my wide leg pants that I made several years ago by using Simplicity 8605, and you can find that here! I also had on a ready to wear turtle neck with my gold jewelry and my peanut butter chunky loafers.
