Hello everyone and thank you for stopping by the Blogl! My name is Talisha and I also go by creativiteebyT, and today I will be sharing GARMENT #3 of my mini Fall wardrobe collection titled FALLING FOR SEWING!!
This collection consists of five DIFFERENT and NEW garments!
Not only will I be sharing five different new garments that I made, but I collaborated with another sewist, Ellie, of Sallie and Sam Style, and she will be sharing five NEW garments as well!
Ellie does not have a blog, so if you would like to see what she made, you can watch it HERE!
If you would like to see all of my garments in one video, you can click HERE to watch it on my YouTube channel!
So let me tell you a little about this collection that we made. Ellie and I decided to title this series and/or collection, FALLING FOR SEWING, and make a small collection that consists of two categories! Within our categories we have also given all of our makes a theme or a name that reminds us of something related to this season!
The first category is titled “Fall Essentials”, which has three different garment types: The first garment type is an outerwear, which could be a shacket, a blazer, a coat, a cape or a cardigan or anything of that nature. The second look is the perfect Fall dress, and the third look is a pair of Fall pants!
So with that being said, I will go ahead and share the THIRD look of the Fall Essentials category!
This THIRD look that I made is a sweater titled “GRANNY SMITH APPLE PIE!”
When I looked at this fabric in the store and I thought about what the fabric reminded me of in the Fall, I thought of a Granny Smith apple because of the color and also because of how much I love to eat a hot apple pie in the Fall….. and that is how I named this my Granny Smith Apple Pie sweater!
Let’s get into the pattern review, but if you want to hear more, you can watch the video by clicking HERE!

Comfortable Misses’ knit sweater, infinity scarf, and headband pattern. The sweater features an open front with side pockets. Sized for stretch knits only. Elaine Heigl Designs for Simplicity
Views: This pattern has four views. Three of the views consist of the sweater with sleeve and length options and there is also a scarf and headband.

FABRIC Recommendations: Stretch Knits such as double knit, fleece, minky fleeceand sweatshirt fleece
Sewing Skill Level: The skill level is noted as easy
Notions Needed: Thread
Pattern Sizing: The pattern sizing is from size XS-XL
Size that I Cut: The size that I cut was an Extra Large and I feel that is a bit too big. There are no finished measurements anywhere within the pattern or pattern pieces and I thought that and XL would be the size that I need, but I wish I would have made a large. Because the pockets are actually sewn over the side seam line, I am not able to make alterations by taking it in by taking in the side seam, so I will have to make shaping darts in the back to make it sinch in more.
Pattern Pieces: The pattern pieces that I used were the front, the back, the pockets, the sleeve and the shaw collar.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope? Yes!
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, no issues at all with directions
What did you particularly like about the pattern? I like the coziness, I love the simple design, I like the design look of the pockets over the seam line (although I cannot alter it that way now), and I like the construction of the pockets with the lining.
What did you particularly dislike about the pattern? There are no finished garment measurements
Did I learn any new Techniques: No
Did I have a first time experience: No
Fabric Used: Green fluffy sweater knit. You can find it here!
Fabric Purchased: JoAnn Fabrics
Buttons Used: None
Alterations or changes: No
Any modification recommendations: No
Would you recommend it to others? Yes! I think this is such a great pattern, but try to figure out your size before cutting and constructing because alterations are not as easy due to the pockets being over the seam line.
Availability: This pattern came out in 2019 and this pattern is still available in stores (JoAnn’s and Hobby Lobby) and it is also available on the Simplicity website. You can find it by clicking HERE!
Pairings:. I paired my sweater with my skinny jeans and a brown turtleneck (both ready to wear), with my blue Chuck Taylor shoes, along with my long gold necklace and earrings. Wristlet made by me.
